    The Description

    We have reimagined our iconic country shoe, this edition has all the looks of a classic country shoe, yet weighs much less. To create a lighter shoe we have used one leather sole and our classic storm welt. The overall profile is shallower, however the shoe still bears all the classic characteristics of our Bourton country brogue. 

    The Leather

    This lightweight Bourton uses Muflone. Muflone is a deeply grained, yearling leather that is softened in wet drums, and then tumbled in dry drums which give it its softness and texture.Our Muflone Brown has lovely rich Espresso tones and plenty of character. The finish veers between light tones of Marron and darker areas of Espresso. Not to be confused with Marron Antique used across our classic ranges.We advise using a Neutral polish to help maintain these boots.

    The Fit

    This last has been used for decades. It is part of our history and character as England's oldest shoe manufacturer.The size (length fitting) of Tricker’s footwear made on this last (4444) is larger than a regular UK size by half a size. If you are unsure of your UK size, use our size guide to convert your known size to a UK size. Then take off half a size. So if you normally take a UK size 8 (equivalent to US size 9, Japan size 27 and EU size 42), we recommend you order a size 7½ and so on.


    SHOE KNOWLEDGE

    Brogues

    Look in the dictionary and you'll read that brogues are defined as 'a strong outdoor shoe with ornamental perforated patterns in the leather' - A Bourton is the finest example of this that you will find.

    The perforations synonymous with brogues were originally a functional characteristic positioned to allow water to drain from the shoes but also to allow for ventilation.

    These are a generous fit and therefore typically larger by half a size. If you normally take a UK size 8, we recommend you try a size 7½.

    The last is a hard, three-dimensional form on which the shoe is constructed. Depending on the style of shoe we use different lasts, this is what dictates the overall shape, proportion, fit and character of the shoe.
